John T. Seippel, age 93, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 20, 1931, in Beetown Township, the son of Theodore and Flora (Folman) Seippel. John attended country school and farmed. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1953 and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1955. On April 24, 1956, John was united in marriage to Irene Landon at Christ Lutheran Church in Lancaster, whom he met at a dance in Rockville. In 1963, they purchased and moved to Maple Valley farm where they raised their family. John along with his brother Henry, sold McNess Feed and in 1971 began Seippel Bros Log and Lumber. Later, John owned and operated Seippel Sales and Service. John was a man who would work hard, but also played hard. He enjoyed camping with family and in his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball and bowling on a league. John was a member of NFO, Christ Lutheran Church and served on the church council.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Irene; their children: Susan (Gary) Cummins, Lancaster, Teresa (Pat) Schroeder, Highland Park, IL, John (Deanna) Seippel, Jr., Lancaster, Lori Seippel, Wisconsin Dells; nine grandchildren: Craig Cummins, Curt (Beth) Cummins, Chris (Karen) Schroeder, Jeremy (Danielle) Seippel, Justin (Nichole) Seippel, Melissa (Jonathan) Fetsko, Cami (Chris) Ewers, Jason (Tonia) Seippel, and Jamin (Alli) Seippel; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Vernetta Seippel; nieces, nephews and many members of the Landon family.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his siblings: Fannie (Francis) Simon; Viola (Les) Groom, Lillian “Lynn” (Merlin) Bertjens, Henry “Red” Seippel; and members of the Seippel and Landon family.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Lancaster with Pastor Charlotte Eversoll officiating. A burial with military honors will be held in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may visit on Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the services at the church.
