John P. Cull, age 62 passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital, Guttenberg, Iowa. He was born July 18, 1950 in Prairie Du Chien, the son of Kenneth and Marie (Mergen) Cull. John graduated Bloomington High School in 1968. It was in that year that he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force and eventually was stationed in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he attended Southwest Technical College in Fennimore and graduated with a mechanical degree. John enjoyed being a truck driver. He was employed for over twenty years at Ag Trucking in Dubuque, and most recently for Bausch Trucking, Glen Haven. He was an active member of both St. Marys Catholic Church and the American Legion Post No. 148 in Bloomington. John will be remembered as a loving father, devoted brother, loyal friend and someone who could always make people laugh.
Surviving is his daughter Annie M. Cull; a sister MaryAnn (Phil) Ryan; a brother Mick Cull; his fiance Rita Raisbeck and her daughter Tiffany; many nieces and nephews and his former wife Julie Metcalf Cull.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son James and a brother Dennis.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington, with Fr. John Meinholz officiating. Burial with military honors was in the church cemetery. Friends called on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services.
