John F. "Jack" Clauer, age 87, of Lancaster, formerly of Beetown, passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI. He was one of eleven children born to Fred and Belva (Duncan) Clauer on July 5, 1934. Jack attended Lancaster High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1954. Jack served sixteen months in South Korea and proudly served his country for two years. On June 8, 1957, he married Margaret Taylor at the Davies Memorial Church in Potosi. After their marriage, the couple farmed near Lancaster. Jack also owned and operated Beetown Feed and Hardware for twenty years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and family get togethers.
Survivors include his loving wife, Margaret, Lancaster; six children: Bruce (Jane) Clauer, Lancaster; Brian (Sue) Clauer, Lancaster; Brenda (Dan) Reynolds, Potosi; Linda (Greg) Stanek, Reedsburg; Kevin Clauer, Lancaster; Lisa (Kerry) Zenz, Blue Mounds; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul (Shirley) Clauer, Beetown; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ora Pascoe; three brothers: Robert in infancy, Jim and Bill Clauer; six sisters: Betty in infancy, Pauline Kaufman, Esther Klein, Ella Blackbourn, Joyce Kelly, and Maxine Weber.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial will be in Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
