 John C. Moris, age 87, of Bloomington, died on Monday, September 28, 2009, at his home. He was born on May 30, 1922, in Bloomington, the son of Peter and Eleanora (Crubel) Moris. John enlisted in the United States Army in 1942 and served his country in Europe and was honorably discharged in January of 1946. John was united in marriage to Carol C. Hampton on October 15, 1945, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington. After their marriage, John worked as a carpenter at Walz Lumber in Glen Haven for many years. He also worked as a self-employed carpenter and electrician. After retiring, John purchased a hobby farm in Bloomington Township. He loved going to auction sales and was a collector. John was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington, the Knights of Columbus Council No. 4416, and Abraham-Hickok Wetmore American Legion Post No. 148 of Bloomington. He and Carol also enjoyed dancing.

John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carol Moris, Bloomington; three sisters: Mathilda Yunk, Clara Mumm, and Eleanor Mumm, all of Cassville; two sisters-in-law: Florence Heberlein, Lancaster; Alma Moris, Mt. Hope; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Edward (Agnes) Moris, Jim (Mildred) Moris and Peter Moris; three brothers-in-law: Gerald Yunk, Loren Mumm, and Walter Mumm.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 1, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father Bart Timmerman officiating. Burial with military honors was in St. Marys Cemetery, Bloomington. Friends called on Wednesday, September 30, 2009, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 4:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
