WOODMAN - Joanne I. Culver, age 89, of Woodman passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 1, 2024, at her home. She was born on July 4, 1935, in Cassville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Wilford and Edna Galbraith. Joanne attended Madison High School. On December 21, 1951, she married the love of her life, Laudell Culver in Waukon, Iowa. She was widely known for her expert skills as a seamstress having sewn thousands of alterations and dresses, including entire wedding parties. Joanne was equally renowned for her mouth-watering meal preparations. Having lost her own mother at an early age she was determined that those around her would not experience hunger. Joanne worked at Lands End while it was in Boscobel. She was also employed at Schultz's Variety Store. She was especially known for her elevated cleaning standard while working at Boscobel hospital and nursing home for over twenty years. Joanne cherished time with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, viewing their sporting events and listening to her son-in-law’s and great granddaughter’s music. Family, friends and guests automatically gravitated to the kitchen as it was the focal point of activity. She dedicated her life to Jehovah God and was an active Jehovah's Witness from the late 1950's onward. She redefined the meaning of 'friendship' via her contagious smile and joyful disposition. Joanne was the embodiment of selflessness. She was one of a kind and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include: Rickey (Sue) Culver, Cynthia Culver, Lore' (Ron) Lieberman, and Fonetta (Doug) Wayne; 7 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one sister: Lola (Bruce) Guard; sister-in-law: Karen Culver; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Laudell; Her sister, lvanelle (Jack) Whitt; her brother, William (Marolyn) Galbraith; and her other sister, Joyce (Norbert) Plewke.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Memories on Maple. Address: 5948 Maple Lane, Boscobel, Wisconsin. Visitation from 9 to 11 a.m., with Larry McDaniel officiating. Luncheon to follow.
