Joan M. Dean, age 75, of Cassville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 18, 2013, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on December 18, 1937, in LaCrosse, the daughter of Leo and Anastasia (Bouzek) White. Joan graduated from Prairie du Chien High School. She was united in marriage to Charles L. Dean in 1955 in Kansas City. After their marriage, Joan followed Charles to Germany where he was stationed while serving his country. In 1957, Joan returned to Cassville. Charles returned to Cassville following his honorable discharge and was employed with John Deere for thirty years. Joan raised her family and enjoyed traveling and camping. She also enjoyed riding the motorcycle with her husband. Charles preceded her in death in 2003.
Survivors include her four sons: James (Brenda) Dean, Cassville; Chuck (Lisa) Dean, Monroe; John (Rhonda) Dean, Temecula, CA; Tim (Dawn) Dean, Monroe; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sisters: Dolores Doris Ploessl, Bloomington; Joyce Davidson, Prairie du Chien; Teresa (Don) Heal, Prairie du Chien; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Joan was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandy in 1968; her brother, Bob White and her brothers-in-law: Gerald Ploessl and John Davidson.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, November 21, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in Cassville Cemetery, Cassville. Family greeted friends on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting the family.
