Jerry R. Barton, age 69, passed away in the comfort of his own home on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, in Glen Haven.

Jerry was born on November 17, 1942, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, son of Russell and Edith (Jungenberg) Barton. Jerry spent 36 years serving the school district of Cassville as Teacher (specializing in the field of Technology Education), Athletic Director, Head Cross Country Coach and Head Track and Field Coach. He retired on August 7, 2001.

In 1968, Jerry received his Master's degree in Education from UW Stout, and recently sang with an alumni group called the "UW-Stout Alumni-Symphonic Singers". He's performed with the group in Carnegie Hall, New York, various cities in Italy, and just this May, throughout the United Kingdom.

Jerry had a passion for golf, cards, fishing, bowling, woodworking, and serving as a Lay Speaker for the United Methodist Churches. He dearly loved spending time with his granddaughters, Olivia and Alayna Baker.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Diane; his loving children, Clark and Cari (Brian) Baker; mother, Edith (Jungenberg); sister, Clela (Gene) Rueter; nephew and nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cassville High School Gymnasium in Cassville with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Visitation was held on Friday, September 7, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home in Cassville and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the school. Burial was at the Cassville Cemetery, Cassville. Martin Funeral Home in Cassville is serving the family.
