Jerry E. Redman, age 75, of Bloomington, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on June 21, 1937, on Hicklin Hollow at home. Jerry graduated from Patch Grove High School in 1955. On June 17, 1961, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Linder at St. Gabriel's Church in Prairie du Chien. Jerry started work at John Deere Dubuque Works on February 8, 1965, in the Foundry and eventually worked his way up to work in the maintenance department. He loved playing cards with his co-workers on break. Jerry worked there for thirty-six years retiring on September 30, 2001. He was a member of the Prairie du Chien National Guard for three years and was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, golfing, and any sports, especially watching his own children and then his grandchildren. Jerry was robbed of his retired days because Alzheimer's set in shortly after he retired. He did word search books and watched Wheel of Fortune until two weeks before passing away. Jerry was a very loving husband, dad, grandpa and would become a great-grandpa in September.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-two years, Dorothy; four children: Cheryl (Bill) Price, Monica (Larry) Witzig, all of Bloomington; Mike (Connie) Redman, Middleton; Jeff (Angie) Redman, Bloomington; nine grandchildren: Ben (Abby) Price, Brad (Shelby Schier) Price, Whitney, Andrew, and Ryan Redman, Miranda and Cody Witzig, all of Bloomington; Tyler and Kelsey Redman, Middleton; two brothers: Phil (Whiz) Redman and Dick (Ruth) Redman; two brothers-in-law: Edward Linder, Dan (Sheila) Linder all of Bridgeport; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Linder and his father and mother-in-law, John and Veronica Linder.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bloomington. Family and friends called on Friday, March 15, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington where a 4:00 p.m. scripture service will be held. Friends also called on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Bloomington is serving the family.
