Jerome F. "Jerry" Zenz, age 76, of Bloomington, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at the Lancaster Care Center. He was born on May 6, 1938, the son of Alfonso "Jack" and Marguerite (Patcle) Zenz. Jerry graduated from Bloomington High School in 1956. He entered into the United States Army Reserves from 1956 until 1957. Upon his return, Jerry started farming in Little Grant Township. He married Mary M. Menne on June 2, 1964, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson. Jerry enjoyed being outdoors and hunting. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its Knights of Columbus. Jerry was also a member of the West Grant Lions Club. He loved spending time with his family and keeping up with his grandchildrens activities.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; a son, Frank (Kristin) Zenz; a daughter, Ann Zenz; two grandchildren: Mikaela and Austin Zenz; two sisters: Mary Anne (Richard) Hoffman and Betty Lou Fehlberg; members of the Menne family; many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 2, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial with military honors was in St. Andrew Cemetery, Tennyson. Family and friends called on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church on Friday. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Jerome F. Zenz Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services is serving the family
