LANCASTER – Jerald Lee “Jerry” Stanfley, age 92, of Lancaster, passed away Friday, October 25, 2024, at his home. He was born August 29, 1932, the son of Raymond and Charlotte (Mott) Stanfley. Jerry graduated from Bloomington High School in 1950. In 1953 he enlisted in the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict. In 1955, Jerry began his farming career in North Lancaster Township. He later moved to Hurricane in 1961 to establish the Stanfley Family Farm. Jerry developed a state-of-the-art dairy and swine operation. He took pride in his homestead that he kept mowed and maintained. In retirement, Jerry spent more than 20 winters in Florida, where he made new friends and traveled. He was a member of the NFO and received the Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmer Award. Jerry was also a member of the Lancaster Congregational Church.
Surviving is his son, Vernon (Sandy) Stanfley; Grandchildren: Dustin (Andrea Leonard) Stanfley, Benjamin (Suzie) Stanfley, Brandi Stanfley, Devin Mootz, Phil (Sue) Walker; Great Grandchildren: Winston Stanfley, Emily (Seth) Standke, Duncan Walker, Maia Ryman; Great-Great Grandchild, Nora Standke; a daughter-in-law, Leta Stanfley; a sister, Doris (Milton) Keeney; a sister-in-law, Judy Stanfley; a special nephew, Randy (Deb) Stanfley; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents: Raymond and Charlotte, Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Steven; and two brothers: Wayne and Lyle (Doris) Stanfley.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lancaster Congregational Church, with Pastor Mark Dieter officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.
