Janet K. Blum, age 72, of Beetown, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 20, 2009, at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home in rural Lancaster, following a battle with cancer. She was born on March 25, 1937, in Beetown, the daughter of Paul and Helen (Garthwaite) Jamison. On November 20, 1954, Janet was united in marriage to Paul Pete Blum at the home of Maxine and Otto Schurman of Lancaster. Janet loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was always willing to lend a helping hand. Janet enjoyed cooking and was always trying out new recipes. She expressed a love for animals and enjoyed walking her dog.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Kay, a sister, Betty Blackbourn and a brother, David Jamison.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Pete Blum, Beetown; her children: Cathy (Dick) Foley, Watertown; Karen Blum, Lancaster; Dan (Sara) Blum, Lancaster; and Dennis (Joy) Blum, Cassville; fourteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, John Jamison, Beetown; and a sister, Dee (Leo Bud) Jensen, Lancaster, her aunts, Maxine Schurman, Florida and Dorothy Harasha, Lancaster.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 26, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Lancaster with Pastor Jim McMahon officiating. Burial was in Cassville Cemetery, Cassville. Friends called on Friday, September 25, 2009, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Lancaster and from 9:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday. The family suggests memorials be given to the Shriners, Teachers for Haiti, the American Cancer Society, Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
