Janet I. Luhman

Janet I. Luhman, age 64, of Lancaster, left this world unexpectedly on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at St. Marys Hospital in Madison. She was born on April 8, 1948, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Joyce and Ralph Knappenberger. Janet was an accomplished artist, seamstress, gardener, lover of nature and a great cook. She also enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and friends and making many people laugh. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Janet married Dr. Gary Luhman on May 13, 1982. They created a wonderful home on a farm with many pets and animals.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Dr. Gary Luhman, Lancaster; two children: Jennifer (Hugo) Perez-Conde, Vigo, Spain and Nathan (Brandi) Beecher, Madison; a brother, Guy (Arlene) Nelson, Stoughton; three grandchildren: Brittany (Brian) Smith, Brianna Beecher-Smith, and Kyra Miller; one great-grandchild, Cetriece Smith; one step child, Natalie Luhman; her mother-in-law, Mildred Luhman, Lancaster; two nieces: Amy and Shelby; one nephew, Chad; other relatives and many friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Megan Nelson.

A Celebration of Janets Life was held on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lancaster Golf and Country Club. Private family burial was held. Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster is serving the family.
