James L. Hore, age 85, of Lancaster, WI, passed away with his family at his side and in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. He was born at Happy Corners in Smelser Township, Grant County, WI, on June 19, 1935, the son of Lewis and Alberta (Burbach) Hore. Jim attended St. Clement’s Grade School and Lancaster High School. On August 27, 1955, he married Mary E. Williams at the Lancaster Congregational Church. Jim worked, and eventually purchased the Mobil Station in Lancaster for 25 years. He then went to work at the Lancaster Memorial Hospital for another 25 years, retiring in February of 2006. Jim enjoyed being with his kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, playing nightly cribbage games, and spending time at Lake Joy.
Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary; two children: Pauline (Jeff) Rice, and Thomas (Anne) Hore; 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Grace Lorscheter and Josephine Faherty; and a daughter-in-law, Jean Hore.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his son, William; a granddaughter, Makayla Hore; his brother, Eugene (Lureen) Hore; and two brothers-in-law: Matt Lorscheter and James Faherty.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no formal services, with a celebration honoring Jim’s life being held at a future date when it is possible to gather in a group safely. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Cards of condolence may be sent to the James Hore Family at P.O. Box 30, Lancaster, WI 53813. The Martin Schwartz Funeral Home and Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with his services.
