James "Jim" E. Davies, age 71, of Platteville, died Sunday, September 06, 2015, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster. Jim was born on January 14, 1944 in Lancaster, the son of Ray and Dorothy (Treloar) Davies.

Jim graduated from Platteville High School. He then was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he drove a transport truck in Panama. Jim married Lois M. Tindell on February 24, 1968 at First English Lutheran Church in Platteville. He worked for Montgomery Ward, Farm & Fleet, B & W Milling Co., and Haskins Gas and Oil. He then opened his own saw sharpening business.

Jim loved watching NASCAR, his dogs and his bird, spending time with his grandchildren, and he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lois; his two children, Richard "Dick" (Nancy) Davies, and Tina Davies, both of Platteville; three grandchildren, Aliya, Katie, and Dalton Davies; two sisters, Jane Bartow of Lancaster, and Patricia "Pat" (Elmer) Ritter of Boscobel; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives & friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2015, at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home, 100 Park Place, Platteville, with Rev. Michael Short officiating. Private family burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends called from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2015, at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
