James A. "Jim" Williams, age 75, of Potosi died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. He was born on August 3, 1933, in Lancaster, the son of Arthur and Ethel (McCartney) Williams. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1951. He was employed at Dubuque Pack for many years, retiring in 1982. Jim was a "jack-of-all-trades." He operated a salvage "shop" in addition to roofing, white washing and operated a tavern and a laundry mat. Jim loved fishing, hunting, bowling, camping and playing cards.
Survivors include his children: Randy Williams, Potosi; Lisa (Gary Wiederholt) Scholl, Potosi; his "sweetie," Carol Keller, Potosi; six grandchildren: Ronnie (Brittney) Scholl, Lancaster; Kyle, Luke, and Logan Scholl, Potosi; Maggie and Gunther Williams, Potosi; one great-grandchild, Cameron Scholl, Lancaster; his brother: Tom (Donna) Williams, Kewascum; brother-in-law, Ivan Yoose, Potosi; sister-in-law, Roseann Shell, Lancaster; Carols children: Monica (Mike Halverson) Butler, Dubuque, IA; Ron (Mia) McIntyre, Belvidere, IL; Kim (Chuck) Kohl, Dubuque, IA; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by two children: Ronnie and Rita and his brothers and sisters: Ruby (Ed) Freymiller, Jerry Williams, June Yoose, Raeann (Stanley) Funk, and Dick Williams.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Friends called on Friday, April 3, 2009, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Potosi and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
