Ivanelle Funk

Ivanelle Winifred Funk, 89, of Lancaster, WI, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 31, 2014.

She was born June 28, 1924 in Stitzer, WI to Arthur and Winifred (Cook) Stich.

Ivanelle grew up in the Stitzer area where she attended Rock School, and Livingston High School, class of 1941. After high school Ivanelle attended college at the University of WI, Platteville, where she received a degree in teaching. Her first teaching assignment was at the Annaton School, near the family homestead.

On June 6, 1946 she married Peter George Ruetten of Richland Center, WI. They were married 44 years until Peter

s death February 15, 1991.

Ivanelle was fortunate to find continued happiness and married Donald Edward Funk of Lancaster, WI on August 22, 1992. They resided in Lancaster.

Ivanelle spent many years as a homemaker and loving mother. In 1962 she began working for the Lancaster Memorial Hospital, where she retired as the Laundry Supervisor in 1987. She continued her service to the hospital as Director of Volunteer Services for several years. Throughout her life, she enjoyed most helping others.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Funk; one son, Dennis (Karrie) Ruetten; three children welcomed by her marriage to Donald--David (Anne) Funk, Carol (Dennis) Peterson, Judith (Gerald) Wehrle; and many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Peter Ruetten; her daughter, Maureen West; her parents, Arthur and Winifred; and 10 brothers and sisters, Veryl Stich, Fredrick Stich, Lowell Stich, Vernon Stich, Eldon Stich, Kenneth Stich, Glenn Stich, Lela (Stich) Becker, Velma (Stich) Lund, and Eleanor (Stich) Frank.

Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Schwartz Funeral Home, 142 W. Oak St., Lancaster, with Rev. Mark Dieter officiating. Friends called from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Burial was in the Rock Church Cemetery in Livingston, WI.
