Ivanell L. Peterson Tanner, age 91, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. She was born on April 6. 1926, in Ellenboro Township, the daughter of Noel and Essie (Dobson) Hartnett. Ivanell attended Buck Wheat Ridge Country School. She was united in marriage to Sydney R. Peterson on June 6, 1942. After their marriage, the couple farmed the Peterson family farm. He preceded her in death in 1976. Ivanell later married Gail E. Tanner on November 18, 1980. He preceded her in death in 2004. She was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church and the Whig United Methodist Church. Ivanell was also a member of various homemaker's clubs, and enjoyed playing cards, sewing, gardening, and baking. She was a member of Farm Bureau and was crowned Farm Bureau Queen at the Grant County Fair. Ivanell dearly loved keeping up with her family and their activities.

Survivors include her children: Terry (Sandy); Dennis (Carole) and Sherry Peterson; grandchildren: Kyle (Christine) Elliott; Amy (Dennis) Busch; Ashley (Rob) Crubel; Crystal (Mark) Weber; Misty (Shane) Crowley; Heather (Kelly) Peterson; Heidi (Craig) Zell; granddaughter-in-law, Lynn Elliott; 26 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Bernard "Buzz" (Beverly) Hartnett; Aloa "Sweetie" Winkers; many nieces, nephews and member of the Tanner family.

In addition to her husbands, Sydney Peterson and Gail Tanner, Ivanell was preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher Elliott; her sister, Irene (Hanson) Peterson; and a brother-in-law, Gerald Winkers.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 5, 2017, at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 1234 S Madison, Lancaster, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Carter Jorgenson officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
