Homer D. Ralph, age 91, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014, at his home. He was born February 19, 1923, in Neillsville, the son of Homer and Alberta (Harris) Ralph, Sr. He was raised in Platteville and proudly served his country in World War II and Korea as a USMC Fighter Pilot. Homer married Nancy Smith on February 7, 1948. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Mines in Platteville and began his career in Abstracts and Surveying with the Grant County Abstract Company until his retirement. Homer was very involved in community and church affairs.
Survivors include three sons: Sheldon James (Linda); Richard (Wendy); and John; one daughter, Mary (Tim) Chaffin; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two brothers: Joe and Ted (Margaret) Ralph.
In addition to his parents, Homer was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy on May 23, 1996; one brother, David; a daughter-in-law, Jenny in 2011.
Memorial services were held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at 12:00 noon at the Lancaster Congregational Church with Reverend Mark Dieter officiating. Private burial with military honors by the Marine Corps League was held in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. A Homer D. Ralph Memorial Fund has been established. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is serving the family.
