Hilda V. Novinski, age 91, of Lancaster, went to heaven on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. She was born on October 20, 1920, in Burton, the daughter of Harold and Ida (Reed) Stoney. Hilda was one of six siblings. She was married on Valentine’s Day, to Ferdinand “Mike” Novinski. He preceded her in death on February 13, 1977. Hilda attended Burton Country School. She worked for Parker Pen in Fennimore and Orchard Manor Nursing Home. After her husband’s retirement, they resided for many years at River of Lakes Resort. She enjoyed baking, sewing, and quilting. Hilda was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her two daughters: Connie (William) Murray; Bonnie (Robert) Sutton; eight grandchildren: William (Vicki) Murray, Kelly (Todd) Taylor, Daniel (Laura) Murray, Michael Jerrett, James (Janelle) Murray, John (Debra) Murray, Sheila Murray, and Kim Murray; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a sister, Hilma Donaldson; and a sister-in-law, Melrose Stoney.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Hilda was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Violet (Norm) Peak, LaVerne (Annie) Stoney, Dorothy (Charles) Laugesen, Dale Stoney; a brother-in-law, George Donaldson and her beloved dog, Susie.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Hilda V. Novinski Memorial Fund has been established.
