Herbert Heffner

Herbert Heffner, age 88, of Bloomington, WI, died Monday, July 1, 2013, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. Herb was born on February 20, 1925 in Crawford County, WI, to Herbert & Leta (Giddings) Heffner.

Herb married Marie Johnson on February 20, 1946 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Boscobel. He worked as a mechanic nearly all his life, first as an auto mechanic, then later as a tractor mechanic for International Harvester in Prairie du Chien, WI. He did try farming for a short time, but that wasnt for him. His true calling in life was being a mechanic.

Herb is survived by his four children, Carolyn (Bud) Struntz, Copperas Cove, TX, Roger (Dianne) Heffner, Lancaster, Robert (Patty) Heffner, Lino Lakes, MN, and Helen (Ernest) Struntz, Bloomington; a sister-in-law, Millie Heffner, Boscobel; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie in 2003; his parents; and two brothers, Buford & David Heffner.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington, with Fr. John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in Blakes Prairie Cemetery, Bloomington Township. Friends called from 4 to 7 pm on Monday, July 8, 2013, at Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington, and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting the family.
