Helena A. Cummer, age 94, of Lancaster, died on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at the Lancaster Care Center, Lancaster. She was born on March 31, 1915, in North Lancaster, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Klein) Kasper. On August 26, 1946, Helena was united in marriage to Adrian J. Cummer. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Lancaster community. Helena was a member of St. Clements Catholic Church and enjoyed doing crafts, crocheting, quilting, baking, gardening and playing cards. She also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include her brothers: George Kasper, Naperville, IL; Robert (Barbara) Kasper, Elgin, IL; a brother-in-law, Albert (Gen) Cummer, Normal, IL; a sister-in-law, Betty Cummer, FL; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends, who were a very important part of Helenas life.
In addition to her parents, Helena was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian and her brothers, Armien and Lawrence.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 6, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends called on Saturday, June 6, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster assisted the family.
In lieu of plants and flowers, the family suggest memorials be offered to St. Clement Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.
