Helen L. Cardey

Helen L. Cardey, age 95, of Potosi, WI, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster, WI. She was born on December 26, 1921, in Blue Rapids, Kansas, the daughter of Eldon B. and Ethel L. (Dutton) Weller. Helen was united in marriage to Jack N. Cardey on October 6, 1945. They had three daughters, Cheryl, Leslie, and Sue Ann. Helen served her country as a "Rosie the Riveter" in Wichita, KS, riveting Boeing Bomber B-29 planes. She was very artistic and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children: Cheryl (John) Abrams, Ames, IA; Leslie (Jack) Louthain, Sturgeon Bay, WI; seven grandsons; 16 great-grandchildren; her sisters: Donna Nicks and Nona (Vernon) Stiverson, all of Maize, KS; her brothers-in-law: Keith Cardey, Napa, CA; Dennis (Lucette) Cardey, Apple Valley, MN; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; their daughter, Sue Ann Cardey; two brothers: Bradford and Richard Weller; sisters-in-law, Shirley Patzner and Lorraine Cardey.

Private family grave side services will be held at Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi. In lieu of plants and flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in Helen's memory to the Potosi Rescue Squad, Potosi, WI 53820. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Potosi is entrusted with the services.

The family would like to thank the Orchard Manor Nursing Home staff for the wonderful care and compassion that was shown to Helen and her family over the past few years.
