Helen C. Devlin, age 96, of Mount Hope, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Fennimore. She was born on May 27, 1920, the daughter of David and Carrie (Millin) Clark. Helen graduated from Bagley High School and Platteville Normal Teacher's College. On June 19, 1941, she was united in marriage to Paul Devlin at St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church in Mount Hope. Together they farmed in rural Mount Hope. Helen taught in many of the area country schools and then went on to receive her Master's in Education from the University of Wisconsin Platteville. She then taught First grade a West Grant Schools for many years, retiring in 1985. Helen was a lifelong, devoted member of St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church where she also was the church organist. In retirement, Helen volunteered her time to many. She enjoyed traveling, had a very strong work ethic, and dearly loved her family.
Survivors include her three children: Michael (Nancy) Devlin, Woodman; Joe (Shirley) Devlin, Mount Hope; Theresa Devlin, Chippewa Falls; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Dorothy Konichek; Eloise Atchison; Gene Clark; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her brother, Floyd (Violet) Clark; two brothers-in-law, Loren Atchison and Leo Konichek.
Funeral services were held on Monday, December 19, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church in Mount Hope with Father Miguel Galvez officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Family and friends called on Sunday, December 18, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 1234 S. Madison, Lancaster.
