 Hattie  M. Clark, age 98, of Lancaster, formerly of Mt. Hope, died on Sunday, October 18, 2009, at the Lancaster Care Center, Lancaster. She was born on August 26, 1911, in Fennimore Township, the daughter of Harry and Minnie (Pollman) McGraw. Hattie graduated from Fennimore High School and furthered her education at the Teachers Training School. She taught for two years in Castle Rock. On September 30, 1931, Hattie was united in marriage to John R. Clark at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Fennimore and Mt. Hope area for many years before retiring. She was very active in the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir for many years and was the church secretary for thirty-one years. Hattie enjoyed working outside and gardening.

Survivors include her daughters: Rosemary (Neil) Kuenster, Lancaster; Sharon (John) Fassbender, Middleton; Loris (Charles) Paulus, Bloomington; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Clark, Prairie du Chien; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, John, Hattie was preceded in death by an infant son, Harry, son, Royce Clark, son-in-law, Walter Yager; two granddaughters, Amy Moris and Vonda Clark, two grandsons, Ryan Yager and Brett Yager; and her brothers, Ernest, Eric, Harry, Harold, and Albert and her sister, Hazel.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. at the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial was in Prairie Cemetery, Fennimore. Friends called on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Lancaster assisted the family.
