Harold Scotty Scott, age 90, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at the Lancaster Care Center. He was born on June 24, 1923, in Lancaster, the son of Nelson and Hilda (Hupenbecker) Scott.
Scotty attended Lancaster Schools. He was a World War II Army Veteran serving in France and Germany from January 1943 and was honorably discharged in December of 1945. Scotty was married to Eileen E. Eggers of Platteville on June 21, 1947 at the Lutheran Church of Peace in Platteville. They were married 46 years. She preceded him in death on April 25, 1993.
He owned and operated Scottys Service Station in Lancaster for 30 years. It was associated with the Pure Oil Company and the Union 76 oil company. Scotty drove a school bus for Lancaster Schools for a number of years. He also worked at Pioneer Motors in Lancaster for 13 years. He retired in September, 1988.
Scotty was a life member of the Bethlehem E & R Church in Lancaster, and of the William Pollock V.F.W. Post 2344 in Lancaster. He joined the Lancaster Fire Department in December 1947, and retired in June of 1983 after serving 35 years. He was elected as the departments Secretary in March 1964, and served in that capacity until his retirement.
Scotty is survived by his nephew, Nelson (Dolly) Edge of Neenah, WI; a great-niece, Sherry (Jim) Wisman and their two sons, Joshua and Nicholas, all of Neenah; a great-nephew, Michael (Linda) Edge of Neenah; and a very special friend, Beverly Burr of Lancaster.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Eileen; his parents; and his sister, Norma Jenkins.
Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster. Burial with military honors was in Hillside Cemetery in Lancaster. Friends called from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Harold Scott memorial fund has been established.
