Harold P. Langmeier, age 86, of Potosi, died Friday, November 1, 2013, at the Lancaster Care Center. He was born on October 27, 1927, in Potosi Township, the son of Wes and Theresa (Markus) Langmeier. Harold served his country in the United States Army from December 11, 1950 until his honorable discharge on June 20, 1952. He farmed near Potosi for many years. Harold later did carpentry work for David & Burnham Lumber for many years. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Tennyson and the Berg Averkamp VFW Post No. 5276 of Potosi. Harold loved attending his grandchildrens sporting events, fishing, gardening and was an avid Cardinals and Green Bay Packer fan.
Survivors include Wilma Jean Langmeier; his six children: Barb (Tom) Brogley, Platteville; Pauline (Steve) Campbell, Mesa, AZ; Richard (Diane) Langmeier, Potosi; Kathy (friend Larry Eckhart) Loeffelholz; Mike (Terri) Langmeier; and Ken Langmeier, all of Potosi; fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pat Langmeier, Prairie du Chien; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by four brothers: Edward, Adolph, Maynard and Bernard Ben Langmeier and three sisters, Imelda Wiest, Delores Dressler, and Lucella in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson, WI, with Fr. Richard Leffler officiating. Burial with military honors was in St. Andrew Cemetery, Tennyson. Friends called from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Potosi is assisting the family.
