Harold P. Crubel, age 87, of Bloomington, died on Monday, December 2, 2013, at his home. He was born on July 2, 1926, the son of Henry and Mary (Errthum) Crubel. Harold was drafted into the United States Army and served his country in the Philippines during World War II. On April 24, 1952, Harold was united in marriage to Carolyn M. Esser at St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven. After their marriage, Harold along with his brother Art, owned and operated Crubel Farms. In 1970 Harold and Carolyn purchased the farm they currently operate. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church and the American Legion Post No. 148 both of Bloomington. Harold enjoyed fishing and keeping up with his family and their activities.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; their children, Steve (Dale) Crubel and Cindy (Allen Gosdeck) Hoffman; six grandchildren: Mike (Julia), Tom (Andrea), Steven (Bri), Rob (Ashley) Crubel, Maria and Jeff Hoffman; ten great-grandchildren; his siblings: LaVerne (Mary Ann), Milo (Mary Alice), Roger (Ruth) Crubel, Norma (George) Smrcina,; a sister-in-law, Ruth Crubel; many members of the Esser Family and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by a son, Philip and a brother, Art.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial with military honors was in St. Marys Cemetery, Bloomington. Family and friends called on Friday, December 6, 2013, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Harold P. Crubel Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Bloomington is assisting the family.
