Harold C. "Jude" Houston, Jr., age 74, of Potosi died Thursday, April 2, 2009 at his home. He was born on February 7, 1935, the son of Harold and Winifred (Brown) Houston, Sr. in Sparta, WI. Harold attended Wards School and graduated from Sparta High School in 1953. He enlisted in the United States Army in May of 1957 and was honourably discharged in May of 1959. Harold was united in marriage to Dona M. Krga on February 2, 1963 at Hegewisch United Methodist Church in Chicago, IL. He worked as a machinist for 36 years for Republic Steel/LTV Steel in Chicago. Harold retired in 1990 and moved to rural Potosi.

Harold was a member of 1st Congregational Church of Sparta and Hegewisch United Methodist Church in Chicago, IL. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, gardening and woodworking. Harold also was a Boy Scout Leader for Pack and Troop 226, Calumet Council, Indiana. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Harold is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dona, Potosi; four children, Tina M. Houston, Potosi, George R. (Tina) Houston, Lake in the Hills, IL, Gail M. (Andy) Hill, South Beloit, IL and Andrew C. Houston, Thornton, IL; five grandchildren, Andrew Jr., Raymond, Rachel, Matthew and Eric; his sister, Dawn Hart, Libby, MT and his brother, Richard W. (Connie) Houston, Hobart, IN; three sisters-in-law, Arlene Houston, Dyer, IN, Mary (Greg) Litchfield, Bloomington, IL and Marilyn Monk, Steger, IL; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Houston and a brother-in-law, Donald Hart.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2009 at Davies Memorial Church of Christ in Potosi with Teri A. Hanson officiating. Burial of his cremains will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery in Sparta at a later date. Family and friends were welcome on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.

In lieu of flowers and plants, the family prefers Memorials to the Wisconsin Kidney Foundation.
