Gordon Charles Fruit, age 92, of New Lisbon, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Hess Memorial Hospital in Mauston.
He was born on April 13, 1917 in Waukesha, WI, the son of Clyde and Lucy (Chapman) Fruit. Gordon was united in marriage to Alice E. Fleck on November 13, 1941. Together they farmed for many years in Waukesha, Blanchardville, Reedsburg and Marshall, WI.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Alice, New Lisbon; five children: Kay (Gary) Wilkins, Platteville, Richard (Judi) Fruit, Necedah, Timothy (Penny) Fruit, Jefferson, Gary (Gloria) Fruit, Marshall and Roger Fruit, Mt. Hope; five grandchildren: Joshua (Theresa) Johnson, Columbus, Bryan (Irene) Fruit, Rock Springs, Sara Fruit, Reedsburg, Stephanie (Rich) Nachreiner, Madison and Brandi (Mike McNicol) Fruit, Jefferson; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Ethelda Loose, East Troy; a brother-in-law, Arnold Gapinski, Dousman; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Todd Fruit; a sister, Lorraine Gapinski; brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard Loose, Marie and Clarence Gierach and Louise and Hans Koch.
A Memorial service was held at East Koshkonong Lutheran Church, 454 Church Rd., Cambridge, WI at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2009. Family will greet friends on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. His cremains were buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in Platteville. The Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Platteville is assisting the family.
