Goldie M. Yager, age 82, of Beetown, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012, at her home. She was born on February 27, 1930, in Cassville, the daughter of Glen and Margaret (Kelly) Vesperman. On February 23, 1949, Goldie was united in marriage to Robert Boots Yager at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. After their marriage, the couple farmed. Together they enjoyed motorcycle rides and going to dances. Boots preceded Goldie in death in 1997. Goldie was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church and enjoyed picking walnuts and raspberries. She also enjoyed listening to her scanners and working on the farm. Goldie loved spending time with her family and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her children: Tom (Brenda) Yager, Portage; Donna (Rick) Atkinson, Cuba City; two grandchildren: Ashley and Michael Yager; a grand-puppy, Shelby; a sister, Dorothy (Monroe) Haas, Bloomington; a half-sister, Hila Johnson, Sarasota, FL; a brother-in-law, Larry (Marilyn) Ellis, Potosi; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Goldie was preceded in death by a son, Steven Yager on May 22, 1983; a brother, Maynard Vesperman; a sister, Darlene Ellis; a half-sister, Hazel Schmitz, and a half-brother, Delbert Vesperman.
Funeral services were held on Friday, September 28, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster with Bill Manthe officiating. Burial was in Beetown Cemetery, Beetown. Family and friends called on Thursday, September 27, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
