Glendoris M. “Glennie” Schneider, age 95 of Lancaster, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster. She was born November 28, 1923 in Mt. Hope, WI, the daughter of Edwin and Letha (Snider) Dersch. Glennie graduated from Lancaster High School and went on to marry Stanley Schneider on July 20, 1946 in Dubuque, IA. Glennie and Stanley raised their family together, and she participated in community volunteer work throughout her life. She was a longtime member of the Grant Regional Hospital Auxiliary and helped with meals at the Bloodmobile. Glennie taught Sunday School and regularly gave freely of her time at the Lancaster Congregational Church. She was active in the Lancaster Parent Teachers Association, the school Band Boosters, and served as a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. After retirement, Glennie wintered for many years with her husband in Florida. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, word search puzzles, gardening and canning.
Glennie is survived by her children: LuAnn (Tom) Kratochwill, Brett (Lisa) Schneider, Kari (Don) Vize, and Amy (Dennis) Hirt; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Glennie was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, in 2006; two sons: John and Paul Schneider; and a son-in-law, Clem Pink.
In keeping with Glennie’s wishes, a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Aupperle Cemetery, Lancaster. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be given in Glennie’s name to the Grant Regional Health Center, the Lancaster Fire Department, or the Lancaster EMS. The Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory of Lancaster is entrusted with her services.
