Gertrude E. Vander Drink, age 99, of Potosi, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. She was born on February 9, 1915, in Rockton, IL, the daughter of Roy and Florence (Miller) Dingman. Gertrude graduated from Rockton High School. She was united in marriage to Harry Vander Drink. After their marriage, the couple raised ten children. Gertrude was employed at Burgess Battery for a period of time. She enjoyed stamp collecting, gardening, fishing with her husband, playing cards and singing.
Survivors include her four daughters: Shirley (John) Ewing; Roselan Trickel; Carol Hunter; Nancy (Robert, Sr.) Klinger; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; twenty-great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, three sons: Harry, Walter, and Dale; three daughters: Harriett, Myra, and Phyllis; two sons-in-law: Robert Allen Trickel and Dewey Hunter, II; five grandsons; two granddaughters; one brother and one sister.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 29, 2014, at 2:00 p. m. at Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Potosi with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in St. Thomas Cemetery, Potosi. Family and friends called Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
