Germaine H. Mumm, age 87, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, February 03, 2016, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster with her loving family by her side. She was born on August 28, 1928, in Bloomington on the family farm, the daughter of Edward and Frances (Crubel) Weber. Germaine attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Bloomington. On January 13, 1948, she was united in marriage to Vincent Mumm at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Bloomington area until their retirement in 1983. After retirement, Germaine cared for the elderly in their homes for many years. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She dearly loved taking care of them and keeping up with their activities. Germaine was deeply devoted to her faith and prayed the rosary daily. She was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church and the CCW, was the President of St. Mary's Catholic Church Catholic Daughters in Bloomington and was a member of the Catholic Knights. Germaine enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, quilting and playing a good game of poker or euchre.

Survivors include her seven children: Bob (Kitty) Mumm, Lancaster; Ginny (Larry) Snider, Lancaster; Shirley (Dave) Stelpflug, Fennimore; Gary (Sue) Mumm, Lancaster; Larry (Elaine) Mumm, Bloomington; Ronnie (Rose) Mumm, Bloomington; Jane (Tony) Meekma, Platteville; 24 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Mary Ann Harter, Oregon, WI; Gerry (Val) Weber, Arizona; sister-in-law: Mary Weber, Marion, IA; brothers-in-law, James Blum, Glen Haven; Jim Ley, Lancaster; sisters-in-law: Irene Smith, Darlington; Bernice (Cecil) Anderson, Monona; Pat Mumm, Cassville; Gerri Mumm, Cassville; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Germaine was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent; great-granddaughter, Caitlin Recker; her siblings: LuLu Mae (Ed) Vogt; Bernice Weber; Kate Ley; Frances Blum; Margaret (Burnell) Breuer; Virgil (Connie) Weber; Edward Weber, Jr.; and a brother-in-law, Bob Harter.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Reverend John Sasse officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Friday, February 5, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster where a 2:30 p.m. parish scripture service and rosary was held. Friends also called on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is assisting the family.
