Gerald L. Kipper, age 74, of Lancaster and formerly of Horseshoe Bend, AR, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018. He was born May 28, 1944 in Boscobel, WI, the son of Sylvester and Marjorie (Wilcox) Kipper. He served the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Gerald married Sharon Marie Lyne in 1968. Following Sharon’s death in 1985, Gerald was married to Brenda (Cullen) Nicely from 1986 until her death in 2016. He worked for thirty years at John Deere Dubuque Works until his retirement in 1999. In his free time, Gerald enjoyed carpentry, hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, building model airplanes, and visiting with friends and family.
Gerald is survived by his son, Mark (Roxanne Burgess) Kipper; step-children: Shane (Melinda) Nicely, and Sherry (Paul Loeffelholtz) Jones; six grandchildren; siblings: Marena Abney, Linda (Russ) Kitsemble, Rhonda (Steve) Stump, and Joe Kipper; a sister-in-law, Margo Kipper; and a special nephew Daniel Lyne.
In addition to his parents and wives, Gerald was preceded in death by a son, Dale Kipper, and a brother, Raymond Kipper.
Funeral services with Military Honors will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster with Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Visitation will be Friday, November 30, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Gerald L. Kipper Memorial Fund has been established. The Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory of Lancaster is entrusted with his services.
