Gerald "Jerry" Curtis, age of 91, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster, Wisconsin.
He was born on December 31, 1929, in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the son of Earl and Lucille (Hoffman) Curtis. As a young boy, Jerry lived and grew up in the Cuba City area where he attended grade school and graduated from Cuba City High School in 1949.
Following high school, Jerry farmed with his dad and three brothers until he was drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served his country from 1950 to 1953. During his time of service, Jerry was stationed in Camp Gordon, Georgia and Germany.
On August 12, 1953, he married Millavieve M. "Millie" Brandt at the Immaculate Conception Church in Kieler, Wisconsin. Professionally, Jerry was an ambitious man owning and operating a dairy farm for 32 years while simultaneously maintaining a career at the Dubuque Packing House for 27 years. Millie and Jerry operated a lunch wagon at farm auctions which lead them to eventually own and operate a local community restaurant, "The Hilltop." In his retirement years, Jerry found himself working part-time at the Diamond Jo Casino.
Throughout his life he was an active member of his community serving as a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 6480, Uppena-Kroepfle American Legion Post No. 473 and Berg-Averkamp VFW Post No. 5276. Additionally, Jerry played an active role in the Saint Andrew & Thomas Catholic parish, serving as an usher and gift bearer.
He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, dancing, BINGO, had a love for cars and John Deere tractors. Jerry was kindhearted, giving, valued those around him, shared his emotions through tears, which melted our hearts, and had an immense love for family and his country.
