George J. Jr Miller, age 87, of Bagley, died on Thursday, January 12, 2012, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster. He was born on August 3, 1924, in Wyalusing Township, the son of George and Velva (Dull) Miller. Jr was united in marriage to Janice J. Kirschbaum on June 11, 1945, at St. Johns Catholic Church in Patch Grove. Jr began his employment at the Brodtville Creamery. He and Janice moved to Savannah, IL, and he was employed at the Armory. Jr also worked at Dubuque Packing Company, farmed and later owned and operated the Dew Drop Inn for seventeen years. In 1990, they retired and moved to Bagley. Jr enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his children: Georgia Rieck, Prairie du Chien; Brenda (Gene) Loding, Ashland; Susan Ruhr, Prairie du Chien; Stephanie (Terry) Buffington, Bagley; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandson; one sister-in-law, Phyllis (Kenny) Tichenor, Prairie du Chien; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Jr was preceded in death by his wife, Janice; a daughter, Cheryl (Robert) Haberichter and two sons-in-law, Bruce Rieck and Terry Clark.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Johns Catholic Church in Patch Grove with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in the Bagley Cemetery. Family and friends called on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington is assisting the family.
