George H. Budworth, Jr., age 87, of Lancaster, died on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at the Lancaster Care Center, Lancaster. He was born on July 31, 1921, in Bloomington, the son of George and Elizabeth (Watson) Budworth. George attended school in Bloomington. On September 15, 1941, he was united in marriage to Marie K. Kremer at St. Johns Catholic Church in Patch Grove. George was employed at John Deere as a machinist for thirty years. He also worked as a Maytag repairman for Murray Electric for many years. George enjoyed working in his yard and collecting John Deere tractors. He also enjoyed feeding his squirrels and birds, which he did on a daily basis. His family was very important to him and he loved spending time with them.
Survivors include his children: James (Mickey) Budworth, Dickeyville; Shirley (Bob) Felder-Hansen, Lancaster; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one brother: John (Marcella) Budworth, Bloomington; his sisters: Mary (Donald) McKelvey, Lancaster; Lucille Kasperzack, Milwaukee; many friends and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Marie on January 2, 1996; a sister, Barbara Wissbaum and a son-in-law, Harland Felder.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 9, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends called on Friday, May 8, 2009, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church, where a 4:00 p.m. scripture service will be held. Friends also called on Saturday, May 9, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a George H. Budworth, Jr., memorial fund has been established.
