Geneva Schiffman

Geneva Gen Schiffman, age 86, of Platteville, formerly of Potosi, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Manor Care in Platteville.

Gen was born on March 7, 1928 in Waterloo Township, WI, the daughter of Henry & Vada (Bradley) Wilhelm. She married Kenneth M. Schiffman on August 20, 1946 at the United Methodist Church in Lancaster, WI. Gen and Kenny enjoyed daytrips and visiting friends in Missouri. Gen enjoyed doing embroidery work on dish towels and pillow cases. She worked as a custodian at the Potosi grade school, and later worked at Rapid Dye and Molding in Cassville. Her favorite job, however, was babysitting. Throughout the years, she took care of a total of 21 children.

Gen and Kenny were blessed with two children, Jim (Karen) Schiffman, Freeport, IL, and Janis (Jim) Zubler, Warren, IL; six grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Alvin (Susie) Wilhelm, Potosi.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth in 1988; her parents; and a brother, Maynard Wilhelm.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Martin Funeral Home in Potosi, with Pastor David P. Myers officiating. Burial was in British Hollow Cemetery, Potosi Township. Friends called from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, February 19, and one hour prior to the services Friday at the funeral home.
