Gary S. Buss

Gary S. Buss, age 71, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015, at Unity Point Health Finley Hospital in Dubuque, IA. He was born on February 6, 1944, in Lancaster, the son of Adolf and Elinor (Salis) Buss. Gary graduated from Lancaster High School. He was employed at Dubuque John Deere Works as a machinist for over thirty years until his retirement in 1995. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his garden, especially growing tomatoes.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila; four children: Lee (Shellie) Buss, Lorain, OH; Eric (Aggie) Buss, Prairie du Chien; Amy (Joe) Lenz, Lancaster; Dean (Missy) Buss, Potosi; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Dave (Diane) Buss, Potosi; two sisters: Gloria Pauli, Fennimore; Sandy Carns, New Mexico; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by two brothers, LaDell and Steve; and his father-in-law, Mark Schwantes.

Memorial services were held on Friday, October 30, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster with Reverend Pamela Strakeljahn officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Family and friends called on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
