Gary R. Boyd, age 68, of Dickeyville, went home to his Heavenly Father on Friday, November 22, 2013, at his home. Gary was born on September 13, 1945, in Spooner, the son of Donald C. and Thelma D. Boyd. Gary grew up in Lancaster and entered the United States Air Force in 1963 and served his country until 1967 with great pride. He lived in Tennessee for many years where he was blessed with three beautiful children. Twin sons, Ronnie (Tracy), USAF Base, VA; Randy (Michele) Hendersonville, TN; and his daughter, Cheryl (Cort) Panama City, FL. Gary talked about his kids with great pride and his beautiful grandchildren: Andrew, Brandon, Lauren, Brady, Kendall, Vincent, Daniel, Hannah, and River, who were all held dearly to his heart. He was also a godfather to Jill Eilers and Gavin Clayton. Gary shared a birthday with his nephew, Brandon. Gary served on the American Legion Post No. 17 in Sumner County, TN, as a Commander and recently joined the American Legion Post No. 473 in Potosi. While living in Tennessee, Gary belonged to the Shriners and performed in parades and at the Childrens Hospital as Buttons the Clown. He loved entertaining the children at the hospital. Gary moved back to Wisconsin in 2009 where his heart longed to be and resided in Dickeyville. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

Gary is further survived by his siblings: Nick (Pat), Terry (Diane), Betty (John), Shirley (Ben), John (Betty), and Cathy (Darrel); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and an Uncle Leo and Aunt Lily in Oklahoma which will miss him and his wonderful humor.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, two uncles and a cousin.

Memorial services were held on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial with military honors was at Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services are assisting the family.
