Gale B. Knapp

Gale B. Knapp, age 64, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 9, 2021 at his farm. He was born December 2, 1956, the son of Calvin "Bud" and Dolores (Stoney) Knapp. Gale graduated from Lancaster High School in 1975. On October 1, 1977, he was united in marriage to Cheryl K. Pluemer, at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. He was a farmer at heart. He farmed with his parents, and his father and mother-in-law, Larry and Roberta Pluemer, and operated Knapp's Feed. In addition, he was employed at Majestic View Dairy. Gale was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease at a young age but he did not let it define him. He built a handicap accessible house that allowed him to live comfortably at home with his family. Gale enjoyed rodeo, sports, and the great outdoors. Most of all, he was so proud to support his kids and grandkids in all their activities, and to watch them grow up and be who they’re meant to be. Gale will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving is his loving wife of 43 years, Cheryl; their children: Kurtis (Kate) Knapp, Kraig (Rhonda) Knapp, and Katie (Jeffrey) Jopp; their grandchildren: Laurel, Phoebe, Mason, Claire, Tessa, Gabriel, Caleb, and Brooke; his siblings: Roger (Carolyn) Knapp, Tom (Jann) Knapp, Jolene (Mike) Junk, Sarah (Steve Irish) White, and Lonna (Rob) Nelson; sisters-in-law: Karen (Bob) Bedward, Laurie (Gary) Simmons, Carol (Dennis) Hampton, Gail Winter, and Jeanne (Roderick Duff) Pluemer; brothers-in-law: Roy Mumm, Leonard Pluemer and Stanley (Jane) Pluemer; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Bud and Dolores Knapp, and his father and mother- in -law, Larry and Roberta Pluemer, Gale was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Knapp; and a sister, Dawne Mumm.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster. Burial will be in the Little Grant Cemetery, Little Grant Township. Family and friends may call on Monday, September 13, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Gale B. Knapp memorial fund has been established.
