Francis A. Haas, age 77, of Cassville, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014, at his home. He was born on November 16, 1936, the son of Arch and Rose (Reding) Haas. Francis graduated from Cassville High School in 1954. Following graduation, he was drafted in the United States Army, serving his country in Germany until his honorable discharge. Francis returned to the Cassville area and farmed his grandparents farm. He enjoyed bowling, softball, and playing cards. Francis loved children.
Survivors include his brother and sisters: Monroe (Dorothy) Haas, Bloomington; Bernice (Robert Stew) Kepler, Amherst Junction; Helen Haas, Oregon; Ruth (Dave) Schreiner, Deerfield; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Haas and Pat Haas, both of Cassville; eighteen nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and several great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
In addition to his parents, Francis was preceded in death by his brothers: Norman, Louis, LaVerne, and Maurice.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial with military honors was in St. Charles Cemetery, Cassville. Family and friends called on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cassville is assisting the family.
