Florence Houghton

Florence M. Houghton, age 90, of Muncie, IN, formerly of Lancaster, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Westminster Village in Muncie, IN. She was born on July 10, 1925, in Lancaster, the daughter of Grover and Maisie "Bessie" (Gates) Houghton. Florence graduated from Lancaster High School in 1943. She pursued a career in nursing, which took her to Chicago, IL. Florence later became a teacher at Ball State University School of Nursing from 1967 until 1986. She enjoyed traveling, which led to extensive trips overseas and throughout the United States. Florence loved her family and keeping up with their activities.

Survivors include a step-brother, Gerald "Jerry" Krohn; step-nieces: Vickie Krohn, Kathy (Rod) Schramm, Sharon (Todd) Hammen; a step-great-niece, Shelby Schramm; two step-nephews: Trevor and Troy Hammen.

In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Ruth Krohn.

Private family graveside services were held on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Dodge Cemetery, Beetown Township. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is assisting the family.
