LANCASTER – Fannie R. Simon, age 100, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023, at Lancaster Health Services. She was born on February 7, 1923, in McCartney, IA, the daughter of Theodore and Flora (Fullman) Seippel. On September 26, 1944, Fannie was united in marriage to Francis B. Simon in Bloomington. After their marriage, the couple farmed near Mount Hope. In 1950-1971, the couple farmed outside of Bloomington. In 1970, Fannie and Francis moved to Bloomington. She enjoyed baking, canning, gardening, quilting, and dearly loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son, Dawin (Beverly) Simon; three grandchildren: John (Michelle) Simon, Starks, LA; Eugene (Colleen) Simon, Tampa. FL; Brenda (Kevin) Reidl, Bloomington; five great-grandchildren: Trevor, Nicklas, Eleanor, Cody, and Dylan; a brother, John (Irene) Seippel, Lancaster; sister-in-law, Vernetta Seippel, Lancaster; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Francis, Fannie was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Simon in 2012; her siblings: Lillian (Merlin) Bertjens, Viola (Les) Groom, and Henry Seippel.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. The burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
