Evan J. Hauk, age 13, of Cassville, died on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born on November 10, 1997, the son of Jacob and Jessica (Hoffmann) Hauk. Evan graduated from St. Clement Catholic School in 2010. He was to be an eighth grader at Lancaster Middle School. Evan played Lancaster Youth Football. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, skiing, and the river. Evan lived life to the fullest with a heart of gold, adventurous smile, and sky blue eyes.
Survivors include his parents: Jacob and Jessica Hauk; his sister and brother, Annalise and Aiden, who Evan was a wonderful big brother to; maternal grandparents: Kevin and Julie Hoffmann; paternal grandparents: Betty and Russell Peterson; great-grandparents: James and Betty Hoffmann, Ruth Esser-Recker and her husband Don; uncles: Ryan (Lindsey Meyer) Hoffmann; Nicholas (Katie) Hauk; an aunt, Shelby (Robert) Roe; cousins, and many relatives.
Evan was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard Hauk; great-grandparents: Kenneth Esser, Walter and Marge Hauk, and Paul and Opal Bartels.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 11, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Sunday, July 10, 2011, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church and on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, an Evan J. Hauk memorial fund has been established. Martin Funeral Home in Lancaster is assisting the family.
