Eugene "Gene" F. Hore

Eugene Gene Francis Hore, age 70, of Lancaster, died on Thursday, October 8, 2009, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born on January 30, 1939, in Lancaster, Wisconsin, the son of Louis and Alberta (Burbach) Hore. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1957. Gene enlisted in the United States Army in 1958 and served his country in Germany as a Military Police Officer. He was honorably discharged in 1962. On February 24, 1966, Gene was united in marriage to Lureen Burns in Minnesota. After their marriage, he was employed as a Supervisor of Quality Control at Skyline for many years, retiring in 1994. Gene was a member of the William Pollock VFW Post No. 2344 of Lancaster. He enjoyed collecting guns.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Burbach.

Survivors include his wife, Lureen Hore, Lancaster; three children: Alan (fianc Vicki) Hore, Lancaster; Amy (Scott) Wolbers, Naples, FL; Sara (Bob) Jones, Dodgeville; five grandchildren: Andrea and Emily Wolbers, Victoria Hore, Taylor Ore, and Tristan Jones; one brother, James (Mary) Hore, Lancaster; two sisters, Grace (Matt) Lorscheter, Cassville; Josephine Faherty, Burnsville, MN; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dick and Nola Burns, Lancaster; sister-in-law, Harriet Burback, Platteville; many nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday, October 12, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster with Pastor Barbara Cook officiating where military honors were conducted. Burial will be held at a later date. Friends called on Sunday, October 11, 2009, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Monday.
