Etola B. Heberlein, age 89, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on March 27, 1925, in Bloomington Township, the daughter of Joe and Stella (Houghton) Foster. She attended rural schools. On December 2, 1940, Etola was united in marriage to Wilbur "Bill" Heberlein in Dubuque, IA. After their marriage, the couple farmed until their retirement in 1982 when they moved to Lancaster. Etola was also employed as a hostess at Kaber's for several years. She was a great cook and enjoyed playing cards, dancing, traveling, and the occasional trip to the casino. Etola loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her four children: Judy (Monroe) Adrian, Cassville; William (Penny) Heberlein, Madison; Diane (Merlin) Breihan, Lancaster; Vicky (Roger) Case, Lancaster; eleven grandchildren: Darin Adrian, Dana DeMarte, Troy Adrian, Kelly Schulz, Kim Ballweg, Scott Heberlein, Lisa Reuter, Michele Barsness, Renee Richardson, Nicole Haskey, and Tory Case; twenty-four great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Etola was preceded in death by her husband on October 30, 2014.
A Celebration of Life was held on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at 12:30 p.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church with Reverend Barbara Cook officiating. Private family burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is serving the family.
