Ernest "John" Silvers

June 15, 1950 — January 16, 2023

Ernest “John” Silvers, 72, of rural Bagley Wisconsin passed away peacefully on January 16, 2023. He was the 7th son of Dick and Beatrice Silvers. John was born on June 15, 1950. He married Sherry M. Kellogg of Boscobel on August 16, 1969. They were married for 49 years before Sherry proceeded him in death on October 1, 2018.

John was a jack-of-all trades and would not back down on a challenging project. He was a self-trained machinist, running his own custom machine shop where his children worked along his side until he retired in 2014 to care for his wife. John loved hunting and fishing with his brothers and children. He spent many years camping and making memories with his family. John had an avid love of guns and served as a gunsmith for more than 30 years. Out of all of these loves however, none of these were greater than his love of the ministry. He spent countless hours sharing his love for Jehovah with everyone he met. His infectious smile and easy going way made him easy to love and start a bond with. John became an instant friend and brother to anyone he met. His favorite saying was, “It is what it is.” He always took things in stride.

John is survived by his daughters Shelly (Jim) Mezera of Mt Hope, Tina (Mark) Hullermann, Mt Hope; sons, John (Heather) Silvers, Prairie du Chien, Joshua (Jennifer) Silvers, Patch Grove; Grandchildren, Cody (Natasha) Mezera, Heather Mezera, Justin Mezera, Jason Mezera, Megan Mezera, Colton Mezera, Maraya Mezera, Jazalyn Mezera, Jaxon Mezera, Mason Hullermann and Madelyn (Sam) Jacobson, Brynlee and Braxten Silvers, Averianna and Greyson Silvers; Great-grandchildren, Parker, Kaisen, Walker, Owen, Landon, Lana and Evelyn; as well as brothers, Sheridan, Dick and Glen Silvers.

Proceeded in death by his wife, Sherry Silvers; his parents, Dick and Beatrice Silvers; stepfather, Ed Mueller; brothers, Ron, Bob, Fred, Larry Silvers; sister-in laws, Jane and Rosie Silvers; and father and mother- in- law, Raymond and Marilyn Kellogg.
