Eileen M. Rice, age 89, of Lancaster, died Sunday, March 20, 2016, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster, WI. She was born March 6, 1927 in Dodgeville, WI, the daughter of Victor and Ruth (McIntosh) Moore. Eileen was a 1945 graduate of Fennimore High School. On July 19, 1947, she married Claudie M. Rice at the Baptist Church parsonage in Cassville, WI. Eileen was a long time member of Calvary Community Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and a volunteer for various committees and activities. She worked as a secretary for The Fennimore Times; later, she worked as a nursing assistant for Lancaster Care Center and Orchard Manor nursing home. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking and baking, canning, crocheting and playing the piano. She took great pride in tending to the needs of her children and grandchildren; the grandchildren loved spending time with Grandma Eileen.

Surviving are five children: Claudette (Doug) Bendorf, Mick Rice, Mary (fianc, Dave Oyen) Gallinger, and Danny Rice, all of Lancaster; and Jim (spouse, Nate Spielman) Rice, Clearwater, FL; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn (Roger) Hirsch, Dodgeville; sisters-in-law: Rita (Chuck) Rupp and Elaine Rice, Stoughton; Jane Moreland, Lander, WY; many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claudie; son, Phillip Rice; son-in-law, Daryl Gallinger; and daughter-in-law, Gloria Rice; parents, Ruth and Victor Moore; sister, Carolyn Gardner; mother-in-law, Ruby Rice; father-in-law, Claude Rice.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Atrium Post Acute Care Chapel in Lancaster with Pastor David Arevalo and Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the nursing home chapel. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is assisting the family.
