Eileen J. Markus

Eileen J. Markus, age 76, of Potosi, died on Friday, October 15, 2010 at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born April 30, 1934, the daughter of Maurice and Lloydia (Turner) Sandercock in Finchley, England.Eileen was united in marriage to Karl Leo Markus on January 31, 1954 in Naples, Italy. They resided in Potosi. She worked at Orchard Manor as a  Certified Nursing Assistant and also was a well known cook in the Potosi area. Eileen loved wildlife and was an avid bird watcher.

Eileen is survived by her five children: Dinah Markus, Everett, WA; Rebecca (Joel) Champlin, Ames, IA; Lisa Markus, Glenwood, IA; Brian (Sandra) Markus, Waupun, WI; Charles Markus, Potosi; 10 Grandchildren; 5 Great-grandchildren; her brother, Robert (Mary Ann) Stappert, Potosi; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Karl in 1993; her son, Maurice and a brother, Roger Sandercock.

Funeral services were held on Monday, October 18, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Potosi with Father Bernard Rott officiating. Burial was held in St. Thomas Cemetery. Visitation was held from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 17 at Martin Funeral Home in Potosi with a Rosary Service at 2:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.Memorials can be made to the Eileen J. Markus Memorial Fund.
